Catawba County, North Carolina's Board of Commissioners has unanimously chosen the eSlate(tm) Electronic Voting System to replace the County's existing optical scan paper ballot system. The contract, valued at $1.1 million, represents Hart's first eSlate sale in North Carolina. Voters in seven states now use the eSlate Electronic Voting System.

The first county to use Hart InterCivic's electronic records management system has become the most recent to adopt Anthem™, system for filing, recording, managing and accessing official public records. Fort Bend County, Texas, recently completed the transition to Anthem and is preparing to implement automatic indexing to further speed its document recording process. "Fort Bend was the first county in the nation to use Hart 32, our initial records management system, and we have worked together closely over the years," said David Hart, Chairman of Hart InterCivic. "Fort Bend has always been a leader among Texas counties in adopting new technology, and we are delighted that they have converted to Anthem and will soon be adding automatic indexing."

August 22, 2003Green Mountain Energy Company Joins Forces with the Salvation Army of Dallas To Help Fan Out the Texas Heat
Green Mountain Energy Company and The Salvation Army of Dallas today announced they have joined forces to help low-income families in the Dallas area fight the blistering summertime heat. The "Fans for Life" program begins August 23rd and runs for four weeks through September 20th. For every new residential customer Green Mountain Energy Company successfully enrolls for its cleaner electricity service at a Dallas area event during this time period, a $12 donation will be made to purchase fans for low-income families. The goal is to provide 200 fans.
 
August 12, 2003Hart InterCivic shares defense contract
Hart InterCivic is part of a team of corporations that have been awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Defense's Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP). Working through the FVAP's Secure Electronic Registration and Voting Experiment (SERVE), the team of companies is developing a pilot system that enables absentee Uniformed Services members and U.S. citizens residing overseas to easily and securely register to vote and cast their ballots over the Internet for the 2004 U.S. Primaries and General Election. The team, headed by Accenture (NYSE:ASN), a global management consulting and technology services company, also includes VeriSign (Nasdaq:VRSN), Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ), Avanade and AFFINA, in addition to Hart InterCivic.
