Valentine’s Day Giving Is Easier via Charitygift Card

SAN DIEGO – February 11, 2005 – Coming up with an original Valentine’s Day present just got easier with Charitygift (www.charitygift.com), a service of technology provider Kintera Inc. (NASDAQ: KNTA). Charitygift streamlines the process for giving a unique gift that not only celebrates a special occasion, but also supports worthy organizations with a donation to charity. The Charitygift online service offers consumers customizable Valentine’s Day gift cards truly from the heart – the cards, sent either online or through the mail in any amount of $10.00 or more, allow the recipient to support the charity of their choice. Once the Charitygift card is received as a present, the recipient is able to select online a charity to receive the donation from a list of nearly 700,000 IRS-registered nonprofit organizations. If a desired charity, church or school is not included in the database, the recipient can request that Charitygift add the group upon proof of 501(c)(3) IRS status.

“Charitygift offers the opportunity to give a Valentine’s Day gift with true meaning,” said Randi Shade, founder of the online service that benefits charities. “It feels so good to let someone else experience the gift of charity. With Charitygift, the giver is passionate about honoring a special person or occasion, while the recipient feels the emotional reward of supporting their favorite cause.”

Creative and convenient, here’s how Charitygift works: 1. Visit the Charitygift Card Shop at www.kintera.org. 2. Order a Valentine’s Day or other occasion card for a loved one or friend. 3. Select the charitable donation amount. 4. The gift card is then sent via email or shipped in a gold envelope via First Class U.S. mail … once delivered, the recipient can use the card to make an online donation to their favorite charity, church or school.

Charitygift fulfills gift card orders, provide tax receipts and distributes charitable donations as directed by Charitygift recipients.

Charitygift charges a single fee for these services in much the same way a concert ticket seller charges a convenience fee or an ATM assesses a transaction free. Kintera acquired Austin-based Charitygift earlier this year. Kintera also acquired Charitygift’s patented technology enabling the online gift card service. Financial terms were not disclosed.
